Hiking in the Highlands

So far in a survey of those staying at Croftcarnoch Farmhouse over the summer of 2020 – the most popular reason for choosing to stay here has been the easy access to hiking in the hills. Traditionally it was more likely to be family holidays or sightseeing in the Highlands – but there has been a massive trend for those seeking space to just walk and enjoy nature.

Hiking in the Highlands has been popular for centuries now and the medicinal/well-being benefits of a brisk walk have long been advocated. Hiking had become unfashionable with the trend for foreign holidays being more attractive but in these Covid-19 times – a walk in the fresh air in peaceful mountainous surroundings is again all the rage. At Croftcarnoch we have walks locally in the woods, into the hills, down by the river Spey and that is before taking in the rest of the Cairngorms and Monadhliath mountain ranges to choose from. It is something we may have taken for granted in recent years – but hiking in the Highlands is a thing once again – and if that is what you are after, we are happy to accommodate.
