Admiring the magnificent views of the Cairngorms, whilst sipping a cold gin from the comfort of a sofa in the sun room at Croftcarnoch, is definitely one of life’s pleasures. With the rise of popularity of artisan gins, not only can you enjoy the drink at your leisure on holiday – you can now arrange to visit the distillery of your favourite tipple.
In the vicinity of Strathspey there are a number of local gin distilleries that offer a tour. Over at Cromdale, the other side of Grantown-upon-Spey is Balmenach distillery which produces Caorunn Gin, where tours are by arrangement. Inshriach Gin is located between the farmhouse and Aviemore and Walter (the owner) can be contacted in advance for a tour by arrangement. Again on the way to Aviemore is Kinrara distillery which offers Kinrara Gin and whilst it currently does not offer a tour – it plans to do so in the future, so stay tuned.
